‘America’s most famous haunting has returned’

The Bell Witch Haunting is a 2013 American found footage supernatural horror film directed [uncredited] by Glenn Miller (Zoombies; Santa Claws; The Coed and the Zombie Stoner). It stars Marissa Lynne Johnson, Laura Alexandra Ramos, and Cat Alter.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Department has released footage found on the bodies of the Sawyer family’s cell phones and video cameras.

What was first thought to be a murder-suicide is now believed to be the return of a centuries-old demon responsible for America’s most famous paranormal event…

Reviews:

“It stays mostly true to the particulars of the legend, but disregards respect for the audience with an over-reliance on convention and a lackadaisical approach to detail. Formulaic in every way…” Ian Sedensky, Culture Crypt

” …a pretty good found footage flick and I definitely liked it better than most of the other average genre attempts but all throughout and toward the end in particular, the movie starts making some bad choices with its story and storytelling, which turns this movie into an ultimately just OK one.” Frank Veenstra, Boba Fett1138

“One of the more interesting images is an infrared shot where a sheet is levitated from two sleeping girls and then brought down, pinning them to the bed and suffocating them. The film also gets one mild jolt off where James Simenc goes into the woods to pay tribute to his killed friend…” Richard Scheib, Moria

” …The Bell Witch Haunting is a mess of a movie, ripping off, unsuccessfully, scenes from Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch. If anything, it does prove that you still need talent behind and in front of the camera to make a satisfying found footage movie experience.” Eric S., Daily Dose of Horror

” …the chicks will get naked, there will be some squiggly lines on the cell phone and video camera footage, some cheap “apparitions” will appear, and everybody will die.” Ryan C., Trash Film Guru

Trivia:

Not to be confused with the 2004 film of the same name.
